Hi there

I am new here, name is Dave aka Apples. I am needing some advice on a new pc build.

I am currently running an i7 2700K, Asus P8Z68 VLx motherboard, 16GB G.Skille 1866Mhz Ram and nVidia 970GTX.

I want to upgrade, but not sure what to get, some advice would be great, its mainly going to be for gaming in 2k/4k.

My friend recently got himself an i9 9900K, Gigabyte Z390 Aorus PRO Wifi, 16GB 3200Mhz Corsair Vengenace RGB Pro RAM, I was thinking of getting the same, but not sure.

Please can I get some advice from the community, I would greatly appreciate it.

Also if you recommend a build, please could you specify why.

Thanks

Hi Oalei

Ok, thanks.

The i9 9900K build my friend did was to future proof, is there any merit in it?

The 9900k is the fastest gaming CPU on the market even if by a small percentage. If you want the fastest and for it to last a long time then it isn't a bad option but at the same time one could wager that the r9 3900x would be better in the long run as it has similar gaming performance and more cores and threads. If games start to use more than the 8 cores the 9900k has then the 3900x will likely overtake it in gaming. This probably won't happen anytime soon though and I would imagine 8 cores will be more than enough for a while.

Thanks very much for the info.

I have decided to go for the Intel i9 9900K build:

CPU: Intel i9 9900K

MOBO: Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Ultra

RAM: Corsair Vengenace Pro RGB 3200MHz CL16 2x8GB

I have everything else. Let me know what you think or if I must change anything.

Thanks.

i mean... you got a better motherboard than you earlier did, but both would work (a elite as well if you wondered)

but keep in mind you can get a 3700x, which performs similar, for around 350 dollars (and you would save some money on the motherboard, and it uses less power

Hey PC legends

I am needing some more advice for my pc upgrade.

GPU: RTX 2080 Super or RTX 2080 TI?

Monitor: I am looking for a 4k, 144Hz, 1ms monitor, nothing too expense

Thanks.

I would go 1440p or Ultrawide 1440p over 4K as it is a lot easier to drive. Go with the 2080 ti if your budget allows.
