hi everyone, quick question: if the name of the ram is not in the motherboard specification will it not work?

example : i got corsair rgb pro 16GB 3600 Mhz--- the board i want is an Asus rog  x470 f-gaming but in the memory support page my ram is not there. will it still work or do i need to change ram ? or not buy the board

The compatibility list is just a list of kits that have been explicitly tested and verified 100% to work at those speeds. If it's not on the list it will still work but maybe you won't be able to hit the XMP/DOCP profile worst case and have to manually dial in the overclock on the memory.

but thers not going to be a decrease in the performance right?

It usually will work even if it is not listed on the compatibility list, due to all RAM running at JEDEC specs until you activate XMP.

 

Look on ASUS website for a list of your motherboard's BIOS. Usually typing in your board name and bios after it will do. If you see a BIOS version that says "improved memory compatibility". Download and update your motherboard BIOS. That will add more RAM kits to the compatibility list.

Update the BIOS anyways, it will only help. Make sure you look up some videos regarding how to do the BIOS update for your motherboard.
