Hi

I've set up my PC for gaming purposes only so I only need Windows 7 basic 64bit (updated to sp1) I've switched off LAN as I won't be going onto the Internet.

The only problem is that I've heard Windows 7 Basic (64bit) only uses max of 8GB of Ram (professional used 16GB and over).....is this true as I have 16GB installed.?

I've attached a screens hot of my process screen.

Do I need to install Win 7 Pro 64bit

.

Yep, you'll need to install at least Home Premium if you want to have all 16GB at your disposal.

Not sure if you are aware, but Microsoft is ending support for W7 at the end of this year (Jan. 2020). If you're doing a clean install I'd recommend going straight to W10 or you could be facing some pretty big security vulnerabilities in the near future.

OK thanks will install 'Win 7 64 bit Home Premium' from fresh install, & AVG only

(LAN Disabled)

don't like Win 10 (tried it)

I've never used Microsoft security updates ever, even on my laptop which is used on the Internet all the time (Win 7 64bit)

If internet is used in future, Hijack ThisVoodooShield & Malwarebytes  is your friend

POPos. Dont use outdate OS's. Please... Just... No.... You are just begging to get your machine popped. If you value your security either upgrade or go open sourced. Your credit score and bank account will thank me later. And not to use windows updates.... is... just... wow... People just really floor me with the lack of knowledge and assuming they know better than the ones who built the very operating system you are using. But then again, you sir are they reason why I still have a job in the IT field.
