hi everyone,

so I don't understand very well this topic...

on the spec of the mobos, some say that max frequency for a ram is like 3466(O.C.) other 3600(O.C.). What does it mean ? do max ram I can get for them is 3600Mhz/3466Mhz? or it can go higher if I buy higher ram whit 4000Mhz?

the ram you buy has to come with a guaranteed ram speed, for example a ram module at 2400 mhz is guaranteed to run at that speed

if you buy a 3600 mhz module, has to be able to run at that speed

if a motherboard supports for example a 4600mhz maximum speed ram it means that if you buy a ram at that speed, it will run just fine

going back to the 2400 example, you can overclock ram, put it harder than what the manufacturer sold it to run at, sometimes you can push that 2400 up to 3200, if ram is capable and motherboard allows it

No.  Motherboard branding means nothing at over JEDEC speeds (2133-3200).  Once you go beyond that, the number of modules, their density, and your CPU can impact you maximum frequency.

Memory modules sold at above 3200 speeds are only tested for very specific CPU/MB combinations, and you still have to deal with lady luck getting a CPU that can run memory above 3200.  The platform compatibility shrinks the further you go above 3200.

you are right, but if the seller promises such speeds and motherboard is capable of reach those speeds, then well, you bought that product for that specification, or it works or you return it

to be honest, most people end up using ram at 3000 mhz on most ryzen 1 and 2, anything you can get over that is basically a victory, like here, my ram is cheap and should run at 2667 but is doing fine at 2933mhz, i wish i could get more, and as mentioned before it also depends on cpu and motherboard, but if you buy to work like that and it doesnt, well, you know you can return it
