Need help in selecting a printer

I need to buy a printer for myself. I have been using my cousin's. I know a good deal about pc but I don't know much about printers. I rarely print in colour like 12-15 times a month. I print documents  a lot which are obviously in b&w. I can afford only one printer and i have around 7500 rupees ($100). I also have to scan documents in color. And cartridge or color should not be too expensive.

With 100$ you get a decent one.

if you need to scan that limits things abit if you need to print in color

 

do you like ink printers or prefer laser printers?

 

atm only few hp offer laser color with scanner and are abit expensive

 

if you have a budget then a cheap ink printer is basically your only choice, some cheap epson like this one

but that model doesnt have the big ink tank, so should be using ink cartridges that are expensive and wont print many pages

 

if you want to print lots of color pages cheap you need to invest more on something like a ecotank

I bought an HP officejet pro 6230 a few months back. The included ink lasted 600 full colour pages and the black 800. I've now printed 1500 pages and have plenty of ink left, so I can't tell you how long the full xl ones last yet. It's a great document printer, with a duplexer and is super cheap to buy and run. 

 

The ink heads are on the printer not cartridge, hence the cheaper than normal hp price.
