thanks for the reply. but my 280x is dead as mentioned in the post.

a 2070 super will be more than enough xD for 1440p smooth gameplay. a 2060 super cannot do smooth 1440p high settings. on some games yes but eventually no. it is a super 1080 high refresh rate card though.

Hi LTT forum,

I am planning to upgrade my PC since my gpu - Asus R9 280X DC II Top died almost 2 years ago

thinking of going for nvidia this time

rtx 2070 super seems to be good for playing at 1080p for now, & will suit if i plan to go 1440p

but since i5 4440 is too weak for that, i am going to build the entire tower- except internal storage

following are the parts i have shortlisted-

1. gigabyte windforce rtx 2070 super (500$)

2. Ryzen 7 3700x (330$)

3. G.Skills ripjaws v series 3200 8GBx2 (75$) /

haven't decided mobo yet.

My steam library just for reference to what games i play - https://steamcommunity.com/id/beingGamer/games/?tab=all&sort=playtime

Questions.

1. are these parts good enough for smooth 1080p & 1440p

2. gigabyte windforce rtx 2070 super for 500$, is this a good deal?

3. Shall I go for 2060 super instead of 2070 super? Can it handle 1440p/higher refresh rates?

4. Please suggest a mobo(not too expensive/cheap)

I'd say upgrade the cpu+ram+mobo first. For 1080p your 280x should handle everything at high settings. Upgrade next year when 7nm gpus are coming and we will have a more mature rtx and more games.
