yea i was thinking about explaining it all to my friend and putting the offer to also put a hdd in there for extra. the benefit of an ssd isnt known to most people so unless i get a freidn to sell it to the extra value will probally be lost

yea also if you want to sell it to a friend that lives in the same area you can ask him if he wants to finance (like a payment plan) for say 4 months

benefit you end up getting more money with interest so if you sell if for 550 you should finance for 650 or 675

con you dont get it all at once

also if you do this make sure to get a downpayment of atleast 45%

its GE (pause) TechNicks

If you trick people into thinking it's better than what it is like most people selling computer than yes. (You will loose some angel points though)

haha yea saying custom computer sounds really good.

I'll probably do some marketing kinda approach like that if I do sell it on bey but if I'm selling it to my friend I'll be honest

@sperkowsky, I think a system like that, even if it's used, would sell between $700 - $800 like @Psychatog has said. I personally wouldn't go any lower, especially considering the fact that that system is worth almost $1,000. Don't let anyone talk you to a lower price point.

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

you need to try selling it high first. the 500-600 here is tech people that are saying what THEY would pay for it. people that know and enjoy shopping and building computers. Thats not the audience your going for. Your looking for a audience that just wants to spend X amount of money on a computer. They see all in ones and things like that for 700$ that have a I3 and no graphics. compare that to a quad core with NVidia  graphics?  yeah they would pay more. besides. if you try to sell it for 800+, and it doesnt sell? then re-list it for cheaper. and cheaper. worst comes to worst you sell it for the 500 people said.

if not, you sell it for way more and boom. and if you do sell it on craigslist or to a friend, ask for a little more then you wanted. that way when they knock the price down to what you would normally want, they think there getting a deal.

something to live by according to my dad, who used to be a used cars saleman, "when your selling something, people like to think they are getting a good deal, even if they arnt actually getting a good deal." case and point, stores that only sell clothes for 70% off. like people ever pay full price for that.

350-600. Some parts are still reasonable, personally as said above I'd keep the ssd and monitor(maybe as a secondary screen), then just sell it as a PC. You might also want to put what OS comes with it when you sell it. Start it at 350 ( or whatever the min you'll take for it) and then just let people bid. You should get the most profit then in my experience.

Yeah don't do that. Unless you could get him to sign a contract (his parents would have to) and then be willing to take him to court when he doesn't pay, it would just be a pain in the rear for everybody. Or request a 100% down payment.

I've seen worse computers on eBay sell for a lot more (recently, not 4 years ago) so you should be able to get a decent price. If you have time to wait just put it up there for 30 days and have a set price with "make an offer" option, then someone might offer you $50 less or something and if you want to get rid of it, that $50 loss would be worth getting it out of your house.

You could do an auction but there's so many computers it would probably get swamped and it might go to someone for $200. If you set a reserve then no one will bother bidding in the first place.

For your reference, I sold a similar rig a few months ago for $400 CDN, and it wasn't exactly the fastest sale either (about 2 weeks Craigslist, no price drops, no daily spamming).
