Ryzen 5 3600 in a mini itx or micro atx case

I have a mini ITX/ Micro ATX case and want to get Ryzen 5 3600. Do I have any options? Am I out of luck?

There are currently only two聽X570 motherboards in that form factor:

  • AsRock X570M Pro4
  • Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro WiFi

You can also get a B450/X470 ITX/mATX board, but you'll need to update the BIOS first, for which you will need a Ryzen 2nd gen CPU. AMD provides an upgrade kit for exactly that purpose:聽https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100#faq-Short-Term-Processor-Loan-Boot-Kit

Just get a B450M there are plenty, you might get it with bios updated already if brand new, if not just contact AMD warranty service for the bootkit.

Or better yet, avoid waiting for the boot kit (or hoping for updated BIOS) by using Q-Flash which allows you to update the BIOS without a compatible CPU or even RAM, you just load the bios files on a flash drive according to instructions and hit a button on the board, and it'll update itself聽(although I'm not sure how many of those MSI & Asus boards are mATX or ITX but a few might be):

edit:聽 But once the bios is updated with q-flash you can just drop your R5 3600 right in and start using it (seems聽odd that Asrock and Gigabyte don't do more to offer that feature, it's going to help MSI sell a lot of B450/X470 boards to savvy Ryzen 3000 buyers I reckon).
