Gpu Bottlenecking

I recently found out that my GPU is bottle necking my cpu. I have a ryzen 5 1500x and rx560 4gb. What gpu should I have. I am starting to save money for a new GPU but which one do I get?

Is the RX 560 capable of providing you the gaming performance you require or do you want more?

 

In order to help you decide on a new GPU we need more information, will you continue to use the R5 1500x? what is your display settings like resolution and refresh rate? how much do you think you can really afford? are you okay with used or must it be brand new?

I am planning on keeping my 1500x. I don't want to spend more than 300 dollars. I am using a 144hz 1080p monitor as my main display and a 1366x768 60hz monitor as my second display. My curreent GPU is used, so used is fine. I posted a post before about my game lagging and someone said that I should check if im bottle necking.  I beleive what the guy said was that If I turn my graphics all the way and lag more, than my GPU is bottlenecking my CPU. So I did that in fortnite and went from 144 fps down to 40 max on max settings.

For 300 dollars budget and being able to consider second hand you do have quite a couple of options.

 

GTX 1070 or GTX 1070 Ti and Vega56 are really great performers that should max out your CPU (1500x) gaming potential, more GPU power would likely cause a bottleneck on the other way around, a Vega64 is also an welcome purchase gain its price drops, not sure if you can find one at 300 bucks margin though.

 

The GTX 980 Ti could also be mentioned in here but because of its older architecture without Freesync support, underwhelming performance on latest API and high power usage I'd disregard all of 900 nvidia series.

 

You also have cheaper cards that should improve your gaming, RX 480 / RX 580 is a good alternative, the RX 590 however should be avoided as it is barely any faster but tends to be more costly... nVidia also has the GTX 1060 6gb for a cheaper second hand or the GTX 1660 and GTX 1660 Ti brand new.

 

The GTX 1660 Ti is on pair with the GTX 1070

The GTX 1660 is on pair with the RX 580~590 and all are a bit faster than the old GTX 1060 6GB.

 

All these cards above would improve your gaming experience to a satisfactory amount from a RX 560.

 

This should give you an idea on what to look for, also consider the cooling solutions, open air cards are more silent than blower/closed air cards... you can find blower/closed air cards for a bit cheaper than the others because of how they are louder under heavy usage, if you don't mind the noise this is a way to save up a little bit more.

 

Also it'd be nice to state your PSU just to make sure it's up to the task of a more power hungry GPU.

RX580 for 100USD is pretty much an average price now

The MSI armor isn't a very good cooler. I'd personally shoot for a sapphire nitro+ 580, it's just that much better.
