Do you support it, do you think it's good? Personally I despise it and refuse to take part in any paid alpha/beta, I think it's worse than pre-orders. They sell you, at full price, an unfinished product. I'm completely open to others opinions and reasons on it though. I'd like to know what the general community thinks

I only have audiosurf 2 on early access, the only noticable glitch is the game will always start in windowed mode, you have to change it to fullscreen in the game and there is the hit detection issue when you start going too fast

If you like the idea of the game, then why not support the developer and get it finished sooner?, its an awesome idea but of course you have to do your research on the game and developer before paying for an unfinished game.

I think It kills alot of the excitement that comes when a game is first released and people get bored of the game before its even released. I think a lot of game maker took this que for minecraft when they released in alpha and had wild success. The reason i think they were successful is because their fanbase exponentially grew whereas most games will get pretty much all of its user base in about 1-3 months, and then thats it. Also I heard valve might be doing away with greenlight.

I don't understand why paying full price for an alpha game is such an issue.

1. You'll get the full game when it's finished (provided the devs aren't dicks) with no extra charge. It's not like you aren't getting your moneys worth...
2. It will lead to a better full game experience when you have the game's fans helping with bugs and ideas.

3. You're supporting the darn devs. It's their pay cheque. Especially if it's an indie dev team where money is scarce until the game's release. They gotta eat, just like you.
4. Lots of funnies when silly bugs occur.

5. It's a good feeling seeing the game 'grow'. You witnessed it in it's simplest form, and watching it become something great. This is my feelings towards Star Citizen and DayZ at the moment. Both games, in (pre)alpha stages, and have the potential to be something amazing. Being there from the start is quite something.
6. Also, if the game is a flop and is a disappointment, you (and plenty of others) can see where it went wrong, and hopefully lead to something greater in the future.

I love alpha games. I've been a part of about five (give or take) and it's been kinda awesome.

£5 for an indie developers first game in alpha - Yes£10 to £20 for a game that's still in "alpha" - No (looking at you Starbound/Next Car Game)

WarZ was a money-whoring flop from the very start. It's amazing that so many people bought into that game without even knowing what it's like. You could buy packages even before gameplay footage even came out. If the ratings are good, there's nothing wrong with alpha games.

My points > one shitty game.

You can read reviews about early access games but u can't about pre-orders. They sell you an unfinished product or they sell you a lucky dip. I prefer early accesses.

Btw nowadays the developers release unfinished games like diablo 3, bf4, rome total war 2... it is better?

I bought kerbal space program and divinity original sin on steam and i like them.

To be fair, that is true, I brought in on mates recommendation as they where all playing it.

I still don't think its fair the next car game is £20, yeah ok its probably worth it but they would get SO much more sales if it was half the price.

I won't start on Starbound as it has its followers

True, and that's why I wait for reviews, but with alpha reviews, one dAy that review is relevant, the next day it's patched and a whole load of bugs have been added or taken away. I think the way arma 3 did it was

I think the way arma 3 did it was ok, but still I think the beta should be free (even if its closed) and then when the games all done, they charge. But full price for uncertainty I think is wrong. Mine craft did it all right with a free version (I think) right at the start, then $10 for alpha, $15 for beta and $25 for the full thing.

I see where your coming from, but I think, for example, $35 for 7D2D is way too much. Of what I've played of it, it's bug ridden (which it doesn't greatly explain in the description) mess. Maybe 5 bucks but not full price. That way the dev gets money to finish it and people get to to test it, even if it is buggy. Personally I would pay full price for the full game unless it was awesome before release but I think at least everyone's getting a fair deal.
