Would this idea work (IPTV)?

Almost all the networks have a app, I am wondering if someone had the $$ & resources to start up a service where you could use them as provider, then just download the network apps you want, then pay them for access to the apps. A little hard to explain

Hmmm, I want it to be a service that you can point to so you need no sat.cable provider.

That would be piracy, there is a reason why Online TV services exist.

No, like a Hulu, but you pick what you want & not a package. Like the ultimate alacarte. It would still be IPYV. just only the channels you want.

The issue is packages exist due to the content creators making them. For example, if Comcast wants the Disney channel they have to put ESPN on the lowest tier. Thats part of the agreement Disney can cable co's have. So its not the cable co screwing you necessarily. The providers like Hulu, Netflix, PSVue, etc have to follow the contract they signed. No one is an exception. Content providers set the terms and its a take it or leave it type of thing.
