3600X Vs 3900X worth the extra cost?

the 3600X is not worth it over the 3600 in the first place.

Now is the 3900x worth it over the 3600? For gaming, no. The 3600 is more than enough for that.

For workstations? If you have software that wants 12 fast cores, sure go for it

I think it is since my RTX 2080 ti needs the extra power. 

If you use a 2080 or less then no.

 

I would get the x versions since they are not a big jump in cost and may be a bit cooler.
