New Ryzen 3600 build to replace aging first Intel/Nvidia build.

JMTHEFOX

Hello, I have since transferred to a new college and I am looking to make a new main PC to replace my GTX 750ti build. Originally, it was planned to be an HTPC for the living room, but I changed my mind. I am looking to buy the parts on the 17th or the 29th of July.

1. Budget & Location

I am in the United States, so my budget should be at least <$1,300 USD.

2. Aim

- Game development

- Heavy 1080p gaming and maybe 1440p gaming at max settings (The Witcher 3, FFXV, Fortnite)

- College work

- Maybe some overclocking in the future.

3. Monitors

I'm still on the fence about having multi-monitors, so I am currently sticking with one monitor at the moment.

4. Peripherals

For peripherals, I am eyeing on a Corsair keyboard with RGB and a Logitech G mouse. Also, in the future, some RGB fans to make it a little awesome.

5. Why are you upgrading?

As much as I liked the 750 ti and R9 380, I am looking to make something more powerful and a proper successor. I am very excited to try out Ryzen and RX 5700 for the very first time.

Here is the current part list for this new build:

Uhm, yeah.  I can't think of anything I would change, to be honest.  Keyboard, mouse and case are subjective.  Speakers... $11 is $11.  I like all the rest.

One thing, there have been some issues with the stock cooler not being up to task for the 3600.  May want to research an aftermarket one.

Cooler issues mentioned here:

Ah, I am aware of the current issues with Wraith Stealth. Someone mentioned this cooler:

Is this as good as a Noctuna cooler?

stock cooler is fine. 84*C is fine. just dont do any overclocking. not that one should be doing any on the stock cooler anyways.

I see. Then I should do at least some undervolting on the stock cooler and get the aftermarket cooler in the future.

Also, is it possible to do a successful USB Bios flashback with all the components installed on the motherboard?

No, you flash it with the bare board. Install the parts once the bios has been flashed.

The only change that I'll recommend is swapping that 5700 with a 5700xt. Just $50 more.
