Any changes you would make to this build to make it cheaper or better?

(I already have the storage devices)

$192 for an i5 or $200 for a Ryzen 5 3600. I'd definitely pick the Ryzen. Same goes for motherboard, $182 for a Z390 or $100 ish for a B450 board, and you actually get to overclock because the i5 is locked and the Ryzen 5 isn't.

Perhaps this:

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

$217.78 for an i5 with a cooler master 212 evo

or $200 for a Ryzen 5 3600 a cooler master wraith spire

So this is really unnecessary but if your into it I would get a Corsair 270r case with a side panel. If you are into that type of stuff I would do it because your basically buying a wayy overpowered motherboard since you wont even be able to overclock your cpu so at least show of the RGB you have lol. So save some money you could more than likely drop the motherboard down a lot if you don't plan to overclock.

That board is dogshit. Get a b450 GPC or an X470 prime pro.

also, 9400F is a decent deal if he has access to microcenter.

Just to be clear the Nvidia card won't suffer any drawbacks from being an AMD board? since the description on the Newegg page lists some advantages when using raedon. (ik they probably wouldn't list their competition on the page)

No, there are no compatibility issues.

  • The 9400f vs 2600X leaned blue for me, but leans red for the 3600. The improved performance is hard to deny.
  • Tomahawk is a no-compromise board, and has a BIOS update function without an older CPU.
  • Dope deal on 3600mhz memory.
  • Significant performance increase from the RTX 2060 over the GTX 1660.
  • You stated you don't want RGB. This is a no-nonsense case with plenty of fan/radiator options and great cable management. I like mine a lot.
  • The CX series is plenty solid, though if you wanted to improve the PSU, you could always grab that TXM for the extra $20.

I'd be plenty happy to run this build my damn self. Pretty crazy what $840 got you a year ago, and what it gets you now -.-
