Built a pc for friend, cpu temps seem odd. Aarswe

YuppityYap

So, I realized that when i built my friend a pc the idle temps were high(53c) so i tested in aida64. And then the result came in. Highest temp was 90c....Not sure what to do i tried to see if i didnt install the cpu cooler correctly, nope i tried making sure that was fully seated(didnt take it off, just made sure the screws where tightened all the way) They do not budge. I touched the cpu cooler and after a couple seconds my fingers did get a warm. I then thought it may be a airflow issue. Saved about 2c taking the panel off but that was obviously not the issue. Maybe the oem just installed bad thermal paste on the cooler?

Specs?

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Take the cooler off, remove thermal paste, apply new paste, remount.

Make sure you follow all the instructions and any backpaltes are on in the correct orientation.

Yeah, try repasting it. My guess would be either a bad mount or a bad spread.

What do you mean? Backplates are on in the correct orientation?

Some backplates only go on one way, and if you put them on the wrong way the cooler will not apply enough pressure to the CPU even if it is fully screwed in.

Just read the manual.

Hey, i think i found the problem. I turned off Core Performance boost and now temps do not exceed 61c. What are the draw backs of turning this off?
