Asus Z370-A Prime for 9700k, 9900k

Hi folks,

I am looking to upgrade from a 8600k to either a 9700k or a 9900k. I have my 8600k OCd to 5.0 (-2 avx offset) at 1.30v... so i do plan on overclocking the 9700k/ 9900k as well.

The question is... is this motherboard vrm good enough for oc’ing the 9700k or 9900k? I use a Noctua Nh-u14s with 2 fans, and my case airflow is pretty good as well.

Thanks in advance.

The board in this video has the exact same VRM as your Prime Z370-A. I personally would not overclock the 9900K on your current one.

In my opinion if you are overclocking something. Your motherboard should be around 50-60% of the cost of the CPU. Just my opinion, some people out there say the lowest end motherboard is perfectly fine. But their VRM is at 105c under load and decreasing the life of their motherboard.

I would not at all. My father's build has a Z390 Prime and a 9900K and that is the worst motherboard ever. All he has is problems with it even not overclocked

Is it sufficient for 8700k, 9700k oc?

If you watch the video, Buildzoid explains the heat output of the VRM for each CPU at certain voltages. That is if you can understand what is being said in the video.
