Hey guys!

Thinking of buying this motherboard to couple with a 3700X - I like the look and features of the MEG Ace and VRM-wise it seems to be pretty good.

Do you guys think this mobo is worth the cost (Here in the UK it's £349.99)? Or do you recommend another X570 motherboard at this price range with better VRM and features? I was also looking at the Aorus Ultra and Taichi but currently feel like the MEG Ace has a lot more going for it.

For the record I do also plan to get some gen4 nvme drives and therefore have my heart set on a X570 motherboard. The four SATA ports don't bother me too much as I am looking to have only one or two SATA drives running max at any one time.

All feedback and help is much appreciated.

Thank you.

At £349 it's a good price. The board is great bar one thing..the lack of USB ports on the back. That's my only criticism and that's the reason why I'm more tempted by the MSI creation for £100 more. But if you only need the basics when it comes to USB, it's a great board as it comes in under the price of it's rivals, the hero and the master. It also has a heatpipe to the chipset, which is something the Hero and Master don't have. So that's something to take into account as well.

Overall it's a great board with a good price, as long as you can tolerate the small amount of USB on there.

not at early launch period price points, I'd at least wait a month and see what goes. Also for the UK to get the C8 Hero, PCPP so far dont have a price on that yet.

It's around £400 for the Hero from what I've seen.

and close enough to the ace

no, it's not worth it for you, 3700x doesn't pull enough to justify it,

the aorus ultra is just a little more featured aorus pro wifi, which I'd recommend over it.

i actually think you'll be fine with a TUF wifi, Prime-p, aorus elite or something along those lines

Yeah the small number of USB ports in the back doesn't bother me too much and yeah I did notice the heatpipe to the chipset. I quite like it.

Yeah I agree I wouldn't get it for another few weeks but just wanted peoples general opinion of the board as I quite like the aesthetics of the board and VRM-wise it seems pretty good.

350 would be the maximum I'd go plus I want wi-fi on my board so I have the option in case I can't get a direct ethernet. With that in mind that puts the Prime-p and aorus elite out from your recommendations. They also have less m.2 slots and if I can get an extra one with decent wifi then why not. The hero also doesn't have wifi unless I pay more and I already find the Asus lineup overpriced compared to their competitors and Asus seem to charge a premium wherever they can. I don't like the look and lack of feature set of the TUF wifi.

My only switch off from the Aorus Ultra is the lack of post code. I value having a post code.

Sorry if I seem picky but if I'm going to spend money on something like this then I want to be picky if it's to keep it for a couple of years.

Thank you for the feedback guys by the way. Much appreciated.

it really is a shame there aren't more usb in the back. I too am still toying with the idea of getting the creation instead myself because I have a sh!tload of things to plug. im a bit intimidated by the eatx form though...

I have also been recommended the Aorus Ultra but you already covered that one.

These considerations aside, however angle I look at it the meg ace seems like the right solution for my needs and at this price. 3 m2 slots, above average Ethernet, wifi, and I even just learned there was the heatpipe stuff. Dang couldn't they have put just two more usb back behind !

i normally feel the same, but the tuf with it's vrm is actually quite competitive

except if you just use a pcie slot for a wifi card? or just get a pro wifi for 100 dollars less?

the viii hero and ace seem your best choice so far, but they're wildly overkill for a 3700x, you could go much lower like a prime p or aorus elite and invest it into a 3900x

I understand what you’re saying and you make fair points. My view is I’m not basing my motherboard choice on VRMs only because if so then I would 100% agree with you and save some money and buy the TUF WiFi. Feature set is what I’m looking for because almost all the X570 boards can run the 3700X and even probably the 3950X so that’s not a factor for me tbh.

The 3 m.2 slots for future storage and excellent lan and WiFi are among the things that sell the ace for me. I also looked at the Taichi but to me it doesn’t compete as well as the ace at almost the same price point. CPU wise I could always just go low now with a 3600 and save up for a 16c zen 2+/zen 3 Ryzen cpu.

i massively appreciate your feedback though, don’t get me wrong!

WiFi 5/6/whatever, 3x M.2, great VRMs to overclock a potential 12/16 core CPU, good DDR4 overclock headroom, great LAN, decent connectivity and good aesthetics.

Intel and 2.5 gig or better

I forgot to answer about configuration: as high as I can at that price point but anything above 4200 is great

Fairs. Guess I’m spoilt for choice then haha. I’ll decide between the master, ace, hero (think about the m.2s) and creator.

thanks for the input and sorry if I’ve been difficult!
