Do I need an ssd/hard drive connected to update my motherboards bios?

My ssd hasn't come yet, but I have a spare ssd, do I need to connect the ssd to the motherboard to udpate the bios of the motherboard? Thank you.

Updating the bios is on the motherboard itself and does not have to do with your drives.

Therefore no you do not need a drive to update bios.
