Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB or 6GB or something else?

FryhdRiceOnYT

Hey LTT Community, I am about to conduct my first PC upgrade and purchase all my new parts. I currently have a 1060 3GB and everyone is saying if I want to upgrade my computer for better streaming and gaming, I should get a better GPU to put less stress on my CPU. Would the 1060 6GB variant change anything (in a good way) or should I get something else like an AMD GPU or a Nvidia 2060 (i can wait for them to lower the prices to compete with AMD Radeon : P )? Thanks!

going from 1060 3gb (same as rx570/ gtx970) its just fine on 1080p high settings 60fps.

and yes a rtx2060 "super" should be the minimum worthy upgrade over 1060 3gb, any card between couldnt give satisfying improvement in performance

That's now quite how it works, if you're streaming and you want to reduce stress on the CPU, you want to get a graphics card that has a good encoder for NVENC. An RTX card or something like a 1660 and up has a good encoding unit.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

If you want to stream without CPU stress, upgrade yourself to the 1660 for the better Turing NVENC encoder.
