Hi,

I'm looking to change from my 8700K to the new R7 3700X (for lower temperatures, plus my 8700K doesn't OC that well), which means no more iGPU, which is what I used to stream with.

I have a 1080Ti that I stream off but if I'm playing in borderless mode I can feel an occasional stutter here and there.

Would say, adding a GTX 1050 or even GT 1030 (preferably does not require PCI-e connectors) help?

Would this even work since my monitors will be plugged into my 1080Ti?

Hard to find any information on this as most people just deal with streaming off CPU, iGPU or dGPU.

I am more interested in a smoother gameplay rather than higher quality stream, as it's mostly for friends to watch.

Much appreciated.

I'm no Special Agent myself, but my Dad was!

help?

No... it might even make matters worse, the NVENC core is not part of the CUDA Cores being used for the game, adding a secondary card won't really help at that much it might cause more stuttering because it will be slower at streaming and add more hardware into the mix.

You could try QuickSync with the 8700K iGPU if you feel you won't mind the drop in quality for performance, test it see what works best.

How were you able to stream off an igpu? What program can even do that?

If you're switching to a 3700x, you won't need an extra GPU for streaming. The 3700x has enough resources to stream and play games at the same time, so just use x264.

OBS, I know can. Xsplit, I'm not 100% sure, but I think it does too. Look up Intel QuickSync

^ This

x264 is superior to NVENC in my opinion and the 3700X will be WAY more than enough to encode that. Even your 8700K should be plenty to game and encode with x264, adding a 2nd card is just going to cause more issues than benefit.

I have a 1700X and while streaming (x264, 720p60fps, 3100kbps bit rate) and gaming I only hit 30 - 40% CPU usage.
