Hi, I'm new to the forum and I already have a problem that has caused me much frustration for a long time.

I tried to check if there was a similar topic on the forum, but I've found nothing.

So, my problem is, that whenever I go into energy saving mode I can't get out of it. The computer shuts down normally and and the status LED on my case starts blinking, till now everything is fine.
When I press a key the computer starts up, but freezes after 1 second, leaving all connected usb deviced without power and no display signal is transmitted. It stays in this state for about 15 min and then reboots twice (those reboots take extremely long). When the computer is done I find myself at the login screen, but the session was not saved and I lost all my data from open programs. It seems that the computer, instead of waking up from energy saving mode, performs a reboot. I don't know if this is an issue of Windows 8 or it has something to do with my mainboard (Asus Sabertooth P67).

I've had this problem since the installation of Windows 8.

I'd greatly appreciate it, if someone could explain to me what is causing this issue, and if resolvable, how to fix it.

go into the advanced settings in the energy savings panel. try to change some things regarding the sleep function and see if that works. or just disable sleep in general.

I already did that, but that doesn't resolve the issue, I want to be able to use sleep.

Can't do that either, I don't have the necessary space and I would like to avoid such extreme procedures.

try to do a repair install. has it done that since you installed windows? if not a system restore might fix it.

Yes, I had the problem since the first installation, at least I think so.

unfortunately I don't know what to suggest at this point other than the suggestions I have made.

there are numerous suggested fixes in this thread http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&id=20110131022941305&board_id=1&model=Sabertooth%20P67&page=1&count=316

Linux isn't yet an option for me, maybe later when more games are supported.

I tried other possible solutions, but none of them worked. I might want to add that this problem occurs only when I leave the pc in sleep mode for a longer period of time, like an hour or so. If I go into sleep and reactivate the pc within 5 min or so it works just fine. I guess this could be a memory corruption issuse then? If nothing really works I have to live without sleep mode, nothing really tragic, but I guess that's what I have to deal with when using windows  :/

I've found Windows 8/8.1 to be a better OS than Windows 7.

With Windows 8.1's start screen I launch applications generally twice as fast as I did with Windows 7's start screen. The OS is considerably more responsive and less prone to slowdowns and random hardware and software issues, and in particular boots considerably faster.
