I have a HP 406G1 microtower PC. With i5 4570 processor. I wish to upgrade it by installing graphics card GTX 1660. The pre-installed power supply in my system is hp300w supply and i have an old smps  Zebronics 450w D-sata power supply. So do i need to buy a new power supply or will my 450w will suffice if i use dual molex  to 8pin pci adapter with it?

That Zebronics 450w D-SATA power supply is undoubtedly far worse than whatever HP 300w PSU you have.

According to the label it is only rated to deliver 15A on the 12V rail (180W). Throw it in the trash where it belongs.

Buy a new PSU. Even if you have to buy a cheaper graphics card like an RX 580 to afford to pay for the PSU.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

I would also be careful when it comes to upgrading a prebuilt PC.

When I've attempted this in the past it sometimes has a habit of not accepting GPU's other than the one that comes with it.

Manufacturers can lock the motherboard, making it impossible to upgrade on your own.

They basically want to send the PC back to them so they upgrade it for you.

May or may not be the case for you, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

As @Spotty said, the HP PSU is actually far, far, far better than the Zebronics.  Buy a quality PSU.

Check it out!  Dispatching an HP 406 G1 at end of life includes pulling the bulk cap from the PSU!

My guess is that's so they can sell it back onto the gray market!
