If I didn't have really specific needs, I'd just go with a kit and be done with it. However, I do have specific needs. So I get to spend more.

I need:

  • A 360mm rad (or a 240, but if I ever add anything to the loop I'll need a new radiator anyway, so I might as well skip an upgrade and save money long term) that's 30mm thick or less
  • A reservoir that fits in the NZXT H400 and will either look pretty or stay out of the way. That means it can't be a bay reservoir, and it can't be particularly huge. Ideally I'd like to mount it on top of the PSU shroud
  • White fluid (Ok, not STRICTLY necessary, but I really want it).

So far my prospective part list is:

  • Black Ice GT Stealth 360 Radiator - $70
  • XSPC Photon 170 Pump/Res Combo - $150
  • EK Black Compression Fittings x6 - $36
  • Mayhems Pastel Coolant Concentrate Ice White 250ml - $22
  • XSPC Raystorm - $63
  • 5 feet PrimoChill clear tubing - $12.50
  • BitFenix Spectre Pro x3 - $36

Total: $390

That strikes me as a bit much for a CPU-only loop. Anyone see a way for me to shave about a hundred bucks off while still getting something that fits where I need it to and won't cost me more money in the long run?

You're and your are not the same. Neither are their, there, and they're. Defiantly and Definitely are definitely not the same. Definately and Rediculous are not words, and you should feel bad for misspelling them. If English is your first language, you don't have a learning disorder, and you get any of these wrong, you are making the entire forum slightly dumber by doing so. Please take the extra three seconds to type properly, and have a nice day.

Use distilled water. Drop the pump/res combo, buy a Y splitter and cap to make a T-line res, and pick up an MCP 355 which should be good for a CPU/GPU loop.

you can maybe get a cheaper CPU block than that too

That is about as low as you are going to get with those requirements.

Is the 355 the same as a DDC pump?

if you have no plans on adding gpu cooling to this, you can step down to a 240 rad.  you can also get a much cheaper res.  you can get barb fittings.  if you do all those, together you might be able to knock off a $100
