I am trying to figure out the right path to build my nephew his first gaming pc. I have a budget of around $600. He is very much into Fortnite and would like to expand into other games down the road. I already have a couple of hardware pieces from my old pc that i never got too use. Which is a evga 1050ti oc graphics card and a samsung evo860 240gb  SSD. I thought about building a Ryzen 5 1600 build because of price. But i would love any recommendations.

@Herman Mcpootis, would you up the PSU incase he wants to throw a better GPU in down the road?  That PC looks like a good foundation for quite a few years.

Whats the used market like there?

Get a yourself a ryzen 1600/1700, used.

Mobo you can usually find returns on amazon warehouse for some money off. Skimp on the case.

Dont skimp on PSU too much though.

The included cooler on the ryzen chip should be fine.

If someone has helped you out on the forum don't forget to give them a reaction to say thank you!

Florida. The closet Electronics store we have is best buy.

My whole thing is for him to have a good base that he can upgrade after a few years.

Well put together.  If he didn't need a monitor and peripherals I'd call it a winner.  Since he does need those things perhaps a r5 2600 build would free up about $150 for those things.

Edit: he could also save about $20 on the included cooler with r5 2600 and put that toward a beefier PSU for future GPU upgrades.  The ryzen platform will also allow for CPU upgrades in future as well.

Here's my take. Highlights include a quality monitor and large PSU to last through future upgrades, and a nice case with a tempered glass side panel. Good budget MB and nice CPU.

Your job is to promote Seagate products, and you're doing a good job! :)

Both the Hitachi and the Seagate Constellation drives are enterprise drives, and likely noisy for a home environment. That Seagate model gets poor reviews and comes without a manufacturer's warranty. I'm not sure about the warranty on the Hitachi. For a bit more, this WD Blue and this Seagate Barracuda look like better choices:

I'm not entirely sure if it's noisy or not since I have not seen people say explicitly that it is a problem with this unit. I checked the acoustics in the specs and they look similar to other units. Regarding the warranty, there should be no problems if the unit is new, just enter the serial number here and it will tell you if the unit is still covered:
