Computer Crashes (Help a Vet?)

Ok so my computer has been crashing a bit more often than I like and I have installed a new mouse which kinda made it more frequent (G700S) and I haven't reinstalled Windows (never did since I made the PC) so any suggestions? GPU crashes too but I understand it's old and I use outdated drivers cause they are more stable.

make sure your GPU is at stock. try re-seating it in the PCI-E slot

GPU at 890Mhz compared to 940.

It might be time for an OS reinstall. Small things like a mouse can make things take a turn for the worse.

I'd say if you want to save you things just back up your drive.

Repair install might be solution but its not quaranteed to help either. Complete freezes could also be HDD going bad.

Before you reinstall, just do memtest86+ overnight and see if it returns an error.

Back things up to flash drives or a separate hard drive, find your OS disk, and do a fresh install (not upgrade/repair). Always works for me. You will probably notice a difference.

That's for testing RAM. To see more disk orientated info, Acronis Drive Monitor is pretty good.

Well I have one stick of 8GB. Do you think Corsair might switch me to two 4GB?

Hm, dunno. I kinda doubt it though. But the memtest is worth running anyways imo. Would you rather reinstall the whole thing for starters, or wait it out for 12-24h to see if it's the RAM?

I don't know. Corsair is usually terrible with RMAs. Give them a call and see.
