Which laptop ? [Image post-processing / College / Light gaming]

Hi all,

I'm currently owning a Toshiba Tecra A50-C-1H1, and it's an absolute (old) crap: 6th Gen i3 + 1*4GB LPDDR3. Thus, I'd like to buy another laptop, much more powerful.

Here are my requirements:

- at least 512GB SSD (PCIe M.2 NVMe)

- at least 16GB dual channel DDR4 memory

- a powerful GPU, but I'm not sure which one to choose: I'll be doing maybe a bit of gaming, but mostly high resolution image editing / post-processing and word processing

- a (large) battery

- a good screen, 100% sRGB or AdobeRGB or DCI-P3

- budget is up to $4000 CAD

- not a gamer looking laptop: I may bring it to university / jobs (not black / no excessive RGB)

- between 13" and 15.6" screen

I've seen two laptops that are quite interesting:

Razer Blade 15" (2019) Mercury White:

- i7-9750H

- RTX 2070 Max-Q

- 16GB dual-channel DDR4 2666MHz

- 512GB SSD (NVMe)

- 80Whr battery

- 15.6" FHD 240Hz 100% sRGB screen

- AX compatible network card (may become useful one day)

- Thunderbolt 3

MSI P65 Creator (2019):

- i7-9750H

- RTX 2060

- 32GB dual-channel DDR4 2666MHz

- 1TB SSD SuperRAID 4 (2*512GB PCIe NVMe SSD)

- 82Whr battery

- 15.6" UHD 4K IPS, HDR 400

- Thunderbolt 3

Do you know any equivalent laptop ? Do you have any recommendation regarding the MSI and the Razer laptops ?

Is it worth it to buy such a laptop now, as Intel announced its 10th gen CPUs ? Should I wait for the Razer Blade 15 Edition Studio with a 100% Adobe RGB 4k 60Hz screen, 1TB SDD NVMe, 32GB DDR4 2666MHz and a Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000 ?

The new XPS 15 seems interesting too but I heard that the XPS laptops are going through a lot of issues...

Thanks for helping me out :)

William

I'm from France but I plan on buying it in Canada, as I'll be in Ottawa for Fall 2019.

I have no preference regarding weight, but I'd like a good battery life, at least 6 hours (that's why I appreciate the 80Whr batteries of RB15 and MSI, and the 97Whr of the XPS 15).

Btw, should I wait for new generation AMD laptops ? Maybe I'll get more performance per dollar with such CPUs

Acer Predator Triton 500

MSI GS65 RTX

Asus GL504GV - not thin and light, might look gamery even with lights off
