different core speed

I reverted my i7 5820k back to stock this week, never fully utilized stock speed with it OCed it only added more heat to my room. While i was stress testing my cpu with intel extreme tuning after messing around with cpu fan curve to see how it was doing. I noticed in H/W monitor my core #5 reached 3.6ghz turbo speed while the rest of 5 cores only reached 3.4ghz. Is this normal to have one core higher than the rest?

what about hwinfo64? HWmonitor tends to misread stuff

yea its displaying smaller value like temp in hwinfo64, havent stress test yet but it doesnt show all 6 core speed/temp like hwmonitor

but as far as I know X99 can indeed run different multipliers on different CPU cores.

sorry i got realtemp confused with hwinfo64, i downloaded both

No idea, Hwinfo64 does everything they can so I dont see the point to let those take my storage space

Kinda sorta. Overclocked, Haswell-E doesn't officially support different multipliers on different cores. Broadwell-E does.

 

 

But looking at those speeds, I don't think his system is overclocked. 3.6GHz on one core, that's the turbo speed of the 5820K...

That's basically what I said. Haswell-E can't do it overclocked.

Okay so i ran the quick stress test again with hwinfo64 and its displaying all cores at 3.4ghz unlike hwmonitor. I guess its not as accurate as i thought it was and holy crap does hwinfo64 shows a ton of info i never knew existed. Yea my cpu is stock right now, any reason why its only 3.4ghz? when it says turbo speed stock is 3.6ghz?

because all core turbo is often lower than the specs sheet say. The max turbo isn't reached on all cores.

we're talking about different cores running different frequencies in the same CPU.
