G-skill aegis 16gb 3000mhz ram running at 1000 mhz

OP's memory is running at 2133, that looks about in line with what you said.

I remember H110 for a fact locks everything to 2133mhz but I wasn't sure about B150... however if OP did turn XMP on and CPU-z still indicates he has it at 2133mhz as shown now then yeah, it's equally hard locked sadly.

OP, your memory is at 2133mhz and there is nothing you can do about it on your current motherboard.

Hello, I bought this RAM https://www.mimovrste.com/ram-za-osebne-racunalnike/g-skill-aegis-16gb-3000-mhz-ddr4 and checked the frequency with CPU-Z and my ram is running on around 1000 mhz instead of 3000.
It says that it has '' Intel XMP 2.0 (Extreme Memory Profile) Ready '' but I cant make it run on 3000mhz no matter what I try.

I just bought it and followed the instructions on the tutorial but there is no XMP or XMP profiles options in my bios.

Is my motherboard too old for 3000mhz? My motherboard is Gigabyte B150m-D2V-CF.

This ram should definitely have XMP profile?

All the options in the bios for changing voltage and frequency are grayed out and cannot be changed.

What should I do to make it run on 3000 mhz as advertised?

Pls help me I don't know what else to do :D

Can you show the memory tab so we see exactly what frequency it is? I'm rusty on older locked chipsets but I'm fairly sure H and B chipsets limits memory to the official supported speed of the CPU which on Skylake would only go as high as 2133mhz

OP's memory is running at 2133, that looks about in line with what you said.

I'd also have to check the memory speed on H and B chipsets.

IF you are getting a new motherboard might as well get a new cpu, getting a new motherboard for your current cpu just for faster ram support makes no sense, as your cpu doesn't benefit from faster ram anyways.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

If you are going ‘new’ build, wait a month for zen 2 to launch and we get benchmarks

Try turning on Xmp if it’s an intel cpu and try changing the scope if it’s an and cpu

Yeah but butiny a mobo now and  Then a 3900x or so wouldn’t make sense, if you plan on a new build go all out.

otherwise grab a B450 + 2700x combo

The thing is, I dont know anything about mobos and CPUs except that not all fit.  Just bought a 2tb SSD and 16gb ram this month so next month I will either get a new case or make a new post here to see which combinations are the best for gaming cpus and mobos (1440p monitor 75hz).
(B450 + 2700x combo  seems good, I'll keep that in mind). I dont necessarily want to upgrade to the newest version that will come.

So you need case, motherboard, CPU, GPU and power supply ?

what is your budget you have in mind

Well, my budget is pretty much maximum  around 500 dollars for a CPU  and I'll get a GTX 2070ti (thats a solid choice for 1440p gaming, right?).

I already have a case but it's small and messy so I will buy that too. Budget for the case: around 150 dollars.

Also a power supply, yeah (if it doesn't come with the case, dont they usually come together?)

Im willing to spend lots of money now and have this system for years.

So everything together what would your budget be ? Because let’s say it’s $1500/2000 you could actually perhaps pick up a new ryzen cpu in your build.

2070Ti? Not heard of it yet, unless you mean that ‘super’ from nvidia. I have the 2070 myself and works really good for 1440p

Oh sorry, I meant 1070ti not 2070, it was recommended to me by someone here but it was like 6 months ago.

My budget is 1500 dollars for sure, the only thing is: is it worth it to get a new ryzen cpu?  I dont wanna spend for something that I dont really need. But it would be future proof anyway so thats good.

Edit: Just checked and 1070ti and 2070 are almost the same price, hmm

Definitely get a 2070 at that point. People here will say value is bad, but for 1440p those extra 2GB of beam come in handy.

They are launching a new 2060 with 8GB of vram, not sure entirely when tho.

As for newest zen, at least wait for the launch, and get a 2700x + B450 board like MSI tomahawk or gaming Carbon Pro for a nice oriceprice

Thanks for the advice, seeing that the price difference is not huge yeah I'll get a 2070 for sure.

Do prices drop heavily when new stuff comes out? I'd rather pay less than more so that's a good advice as well. I'm gonna wait :)

Not heavily, but I suppose anywhere between 50-100? Can’t say for sure tho could be more could be less.
