Diagnosing MB vs CPU failure

Suggested methods to determine if it is the CPU or MB that died?

if any fans or lights turn on, its the cpu. If nothing happens its most likely the mobo or psu

Not much you can do other then get a different CPU or motherboard to test the components.

 

If it's an old chipset you might be able to find a cheap cpu off ebay for like $10 to test the motherboard.

Some motherboards will beep if the CPU is faulty.

Leds are lighting up on the board. Nothing else does anything. LGA 1156 socket. Yeah I just don't have another board or processor to properly test em and was hoping a better solution existed I didn't think of. Thanks guys.

Had a PSU ensured it was not that. Interesting too the PSU clearly pushes some power as the LEDs light up but nothing else moves when I try to turn it on. I jumped the PSU just to watch the fan spin so I could decide that works.

Take the cpu out and see if you get something different on the motherboard.
