Gtx 780 selection help with current prices

OK so I am done waiting for the R9 290 prices to stabilize.

Currently Newegg has some decent prices for the gtx 780 plus to tax to where I live.

Gigabyte windforce 780 rev2 for $470 AR

Asus 780 direct current for $499

Evga 780 classified for $538 AR

I am really interested in over clocking the card to get the most out of it, thus I included the evga card in my choices. However, the price of the Gigabyte card make it so hard to pay more but from what I have seen with reviews the oc potential of the Gigabyte card is lacking.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Regardless the 290 is better than the 780. Just get a non reference design.

Get the Evga Classy if you want mad overclocking.

Get the cheapest aftermarket one or whichever looks best. They're very similar and it isn't worth paying much more for any one over another.

Just anyone you think will look best. Also consider MSI's Twin Frozer Gaming Edition graphics card. That thing is a beast as well.

It's objectively better, you really want to argue this

No, I feel like arguing about the 290 is not as good of option compared to a 780 for what the OP wants to do- overclock.

Thanks everyone,

Like I said, I am tired of waiting for the prices to drop or inventory to come in on the AMD cards. I currently have the Asus R9 290 direct CU II ordered on Amazon for $440 but the date that they expect to have the cards changes each day that I check in on it. When I ordered the card to lock in the price it gave me a 1 month release date, then is was 2-4 weeks, and now that date is gone and they are back to not knowing when they would have it.

Also Hardocp as well as Linus compared the performance of Overclocked 780 vs R9 290

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2014/01/20/gigabyte_gtx_780_ghz_edition_video_card_review/9#.UuTDMRDTlhE

The overclocking head room is just not there on average for the R9 290. It seems like the only R9 290 card that likes to overclock is the Tri X version and that is currently going got $599.

With the 780 and some custom bios / vold mods I believe I can squeeze out some good numbers and have some fun while doing so.

I would go with DCUII out of any of those but in truth it doesnt matter what you pick. They are all pretty much the same so base your decision of price/asthetics.

I am very pleased with my Gigabyte 780 Ti, I can't imagine the cooler being any different. Runs very cool, VERY quiet, despite having 3 fans, and the build quality on them is exceptional.. They feel sturdy. The Gigabyte 780 gets my thumbs up, plus it's cheaper.
