I have purchased an alpha cool reservoir that needs a separate D5 pump (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AWWTZVU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

Now the pump that supposedly works with the reservoir according to alpha cools web page dose not have good news in regards of quality (dies in 6 months, noisy, etc.). As in I would like to know if I can use off brand D5 pumps with the reservoir and not have problems.

So then I really don't need to buy a Alpha cool pump for a alpha cool reservoir.

Do you have a link to the pump they want you to buy?

A Laing/Xylem D5 pump is a Laing/Xylem D5 pump, regardless of whose sticker is slapped on it. The only things you need to consider: Do I need PWM or am I good with setting the speed on the pump and leaving it? Do I want it with a Molex connector or SATA power? Do I want the cable sleeved?

Ok ..... I wanted to know before buying a incompatible pump or buying a pump that causes problems down the road.

D5 is just a specific model of pump by a company that is called both Laing and Xylem. Large brands like Primochill, EKWB, and Bitspower buy and resell D5 (and DDC) pumps. Some will change the power connector or sleeve the cables, but they are functionally and dimensionally the same.
