We knew Samsung has been developing it but as the trend always is, there are probably at least 5 companies doing it so I'm not even surprised. 

 

Now that I think about it, how would this work with, let's say Face ID? iPhones has a huge notch for a reason, and that much area under screen might be problematic. Just one example.
