New PC build won't start up, no clue why

Hi everyone,

I recently made a new build (my second). Here are the components:

i7-9700k

ASUS LGA 1151 PRIME Z270-A

MSI rtx 2070

Corsair h100i

Corsair vengeance 16gb 3000hz ram

with only the cpu, cooler and one stick of ram installed, absolutely nothing happens when I press power on. I've even gotten replacement motherboard and CPU thinking one of them was broken but again nothing changed. I am absolutely baffled and would be very grateful for some help. I've attached some photos to see the configuration.

thanks in advance! ?

Your motherboard and cpu aren't compatible, 9700k requires a Z370 or Z390 motherboard

Most likely this.

Also need to say that the external part of an antistatic bag is conductive (the inside is not).

I doubt you are going to fry your motherboard like this, but please, put it on the motherboard carton box, not on the bag.

The 100 and 200 series chipsets only support 6th and 7th gen. The 8th and 9th gen are only supported on the 300 series chipset, you've got two options...

1) Sell the Z270 board and buy either a Z370 board or Z390 board (ideally).

or

2) Sell the 9700K and find either an i7 6700K or i7 7700K (ideally).
