Overclocking Compatibility

I am wanting to build a pc and I am not sure if the GPU I'm buying will work on just any motherboard. I'll be getting and Asus ROG strix OC RTX 2070 and don't know if the motherboard matters. I have a Asus Prime B450 plus picked out right now on pc part picker and just want a second voice to let me know if it will work. I'm not planning on overclocking my cpu which will be a Ryzen 5 2600.

Considering how "meh" that board is.

 

Get a B450 Steel legend, B450 Pro4 or B450 tomahawk.

Yes, you can use that gpu on any b450 or in that fact, on any motherboard with pcie 16x slot.

No, not really. 

 

If you want a good board from Asus, then you need to pull out the wallet. 

 

If you want a good overclocking board for quite cheap, then MSI is the way to go.

If you want some flare, the Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming ATX is the same price as a Tomahawk right now.

Similar performance, but some serious sex appeal on the AORUS
