I have been looking EVERYWHERE and nowhere has what I need...

I had a plan to make my own NAS, but even that costs a heap of money.

Also, I was wondering if I could set up a NAS with my Pi, but with that, I would need external/enclosure drives, and that even burns the wallet.

And my second thought, should I use clunky HDDs or go with SSD? If laptop (2.5) drives are a possibility, I'd get a 7500rpm drive.

I only saw SOME ethernet enclosures.

Then I thought about using those tiny Dell WYSE computers as a base. They have then for $30 on eBay.

I would like, for the moment, 2x1TB drives. In RAID 1. I will update in the future, but right now, just that.

Can you guys suggest something on the cheap? Bring my mind down from the clouds?

That's the stupidest thing I ever heard in my life...

There can be any number of reasons for wanting a NAS, all of which will determine the advice you get. But, you know what? Since you are going to be a jerk about it, you're on your own.

As long as anyone is oppressed, no one will be safe and free.

One has to be proactive, not reactive, to ensure the safety of one's data so backup your data! And RAID is NOT a backup!

Yeah but there's more than one use case for them that was why lady Fitzgerald was asking because to design /build a NAS. You need to know what it will be used for I presume your using for basic bulk storage of files?

Please quote or tag  @Ben17 if you want to see a reply.

If I don't reply it's probly because I am in a different time zone or haven't seen your message yet but I will reply when I see it ?
