Low FPS on good pc

So I have a gaming pc specs are gtx 1070 intel core i5 7400 Corsair cx650m psu and in a lot of games I get low FPS on lowest setting on fortnite I get around not even 100fps and then every few seconds it drops to 3-16fps and in rainbow six siege in don’t even get 70 FPS on lowest settings.

Is there a chance your CPU graphics are on and your GPU isn't the one doing the work?

bottleneck. My brother's 970 is too much for is 7400 in many games, the 1070 would be a similar story.

 

Turn up the graphics settings, your GPU is underutilized.

My Athlon X4 with GTX 970 manages to get around 75avg with maybe some dips to 60s... x-x

Turn up the graphics settings, your GPU is underutilized.

He means in game, turn the graphics way up. For example, if you have it on low quality graphics, change it to high.

All you need to do is change your settings to high. If you're on the lowest settings you already know how to change them. Keep changing them and experimenting until your performance is better.

On max settings it lowers the FPS

Like I could be on 140fps and then it drops to like 2fps

Sounds like you may have a driver issue, have you updated your graphics drivers? If you used to have an AMD card, did you remove old drivers with DDU?

I had a gtx 1050ti before this

Around 40-50 degrees
