Can someone explain to me what i have missed? is mining back? i feel like i must be missing some big story here.

right now 1080 Ti's go for 600 € used. Even the shitty cooler models like my msi aero go for 450€. i bought mine about a year or so ago for 300 or 350 i dont remember exatly. by now id have expected prices to be way lower.

i noticed when i was looking for a gpu for a friend. coming to the conclusion theres basically no bang for buck upgrade out there for his 970.

seeing these prices im wondering if i should just sell my 1080 Ti now and get a 2070. since performance seems on par and power consumption is way lower. and i dont think ill notice the difference between 11gb and 8gb.

update: i have correct myslef the most expensive msi aero i found is 575 €

AMD graphics card seem to be way cheaper in Europe (at least compared to SEA), I guess look for Vega 56/64? Radeon VII even?

2080 you mean? The 2070 is no where near on par with a 1080Ti for performance. It's slightly better than a 1080.

yeah i was going by passmark results but looking further into it youre right. still how is it that 1080 Ti's were 350 a year a go and are now close to 600. is there some news i missed?

Not sure, Nvidia stopped producing Pascal GPUs so prices of brand new ones have skyrocketed. Here in Singapore the used prices have been normal though.

just saw some story from a week ago where apparently some form of bitcoin really is going up drastically right now. not sure if it got anything to do with it but still...

You probably bought them when RTX was announced. People were rushing to sell their "old" 1080Tis and prices went down. When people noticed RTX wasn't that much of an improvement, less people decided to sell and therefore, prices went up. This is my theory. Correct me if I'm wrong.

sound logical i guess

i just never had that happen that something i bought gained in value instead of loosing value
