Best fan layout for PC

SigmaDire

So I have a kind of weird/shitty case but not as shitty as the INWIN 805 Infinity I have laying around, this one actually has opening in the front however small and an opening at the top, currently my thermals especially for my GPU are poop. Just opened up my wraith ripper and switched the fan direction so it's not trying to suck from my exhaust fan improved thermals on my 1920x w/liquid metal by nearly 20C, and since the fan is now helping to blow more air out of the case vs literally sucking hot air back in I have noticed improved thermals on my GPU but only about 5C and it's still nearly thermal throttling @ 84C....

Here is the sideview on my case

there are 7 fan slots and I guess  fucked up by not keeping the 7th one I had but it wouldn't fit on my 6 fan controller and had a weird ass 6 pin cable that wouldn't go on my mobo and if it did would not sync with the other remove controlled fans....

as you can see on the front there are smalls holes that is all the breathing this fan is able to do, and it had 3 fans pulling air on the front to begin with but I thought that was stupid since the entire front is closed off, here is a view, very shitty for thermals but a cool effect

here is the top view, hard to see the fans but they are basically all just in a line, the fan closest to the front is exposed about 80% with a small bit being cut off from the opening..... the top has really good airflow the filter on it has quite large openings with nothing else obstructing airflow.....

Here is my fan layout

8doEzDn.jpg

the blue represents my case fans, red of course airflow direction, the yellow is my HUGE wraith ripper heatsink, and the green is my AORUS 2080ti(yes I know thermals are shit but it pretty lol), literally my 2080 ti and wraith ripper are practically touching, if I move my GPU down a slot it will block my x399 gaming 7's large aorus RGB logo so i'd rather not..... the white is the one spot missing a fan since the controller only has 6 connectors.

RIght now I am sure my fan layout is scuffed with an exhaust fan right next to an intake, at this point in time I am really trying to help my GPU thermals though so please let me know what would at least be a better config for my case fan setup

Literally just buy a 1920x is best CPU

Nice case man congrats on that.  The intakes in the front of the case are correct.  The exhaust fan is correct.  Is that yellow with 3 arrows your video card or what is that ?  Also big mistake your top should be all exhaust fans,, and the CPU air cooler should be blowing same direction as the intake fans and out the exhaust fans on top and rear and what not.

sorry here is a better pic and a video of it before I change to aorus 2080 ti so you can see what it looks like, gpu fans should be blowing the same direction with the different cards though

really my question from your suggestion should I change one of the top fans after i make them exhaust probably front most to intake even though it only has those small holes to get air from front?

Can you install any fans in the bottom or side panel? Move the top 2 intake fans to the bottom or side if you can.

You only need 1 top fan as exhaust. The 2 other fans on top near the front will end up exhausting cool fresh air.

If you can't mount fans in the bottom or side panel try flipping the power supply around so the intake from the power supply will pull from under the graphics card.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X   Motherboard: MSI X570 Gaming Edge Wifi   Case: Deepcool Maxtrexx 70   GPU: RTX 3090   RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3x16GB 3200 MHz   PSU: Super Flower 850W

Switch either direction of CPU cooler to exhaust top and make all top exhausts (rear can be intake, but you need filter for it). Or remove 1-2 top fans and leave rest as exhausts.

Neither of those can really do much for temps. GPU temps suffer mainly from PSU shroud. At the moment you have only 1 fan blowing air for that card, compared to some other cases where upper front fan also is partly cooling GPU. And since shroud is there, adding another fan to front won't do miracles.

side panel is a no, if it were at the botton it would need a frame so not to be attached directly to the PSU cover

interested idea about the power supply I think I will do this sir, thank you

I see, I think the GPU is suffering from not having a fan blowing from the front as well, and again with the PSU shroud, maybe I'm being picky but it does have holes so if the PSU were reversed it would still be able to pull quite a bit of air I would really like to keep the shroud although it would improve airflow as it helps make the case look nice...

As far as CPU cooler i'm honestly glad I don't have to make a choice to have the threadripper RGB displayed sideways but due to the fan screws on the TR4 socket it can only be put in one way, was able to change fan direction simply because it slides in sideways so it can either be changes from one side to push/pull but not flipped to move air up and down just side to side

So really I will move the front most fan to the bottom front slot and see if I can find a brace to put a fan directly under the GPU otherwise leave the top 2 fan slots of exhaust..... that front panel designs although pretty friggin sucks for airflow, still this case is nowhere near as bad as the INWIN 805.... tbh probably if I can get my front and top inside LEDS to sync with mobo I will buy a nice RGB fan kit with high RPM PWM fans which will run me like $100 for all 6...

On a side note I was able to get a $70 discount for manufacturer on this case, if anyone is interested in getting it PM me and i'll send you the details so you can try to get the same, would be nice with a less powerful setup!

Just got done flipping PSU and two back top fans to both exhaust and put the frontmost top fan back to the bottom for intake, decrease in temps under load of ATLEAST 5C putting it just 2-3C above benchmarks for my card meaning case airflow is doing great, haven't been able to test gpu+CPU both under max load since UNIGINE heaven running + PRIME 95 lowers GPu usage to nearly half...CPU usage at full load by itself stays at 67C and doesn't budge, lol.

Thanks guys, can't imagine how good the case can actually be with some decent PWM fans, I think it was corsair and thermaltake had RGB fans with the best airflow? But if I remember correctly they were also about $50+ for 3 packs
