Well my i5 2500 non K is starting to bottleneck my RX 570 in big games like GTA 5 and watchdogs 2. I have an OEM motherboard which will only accept 2nd Gen Sandybridge CPUs. I found the i7 2600. Is the upgrade worth it for £60? Will I notice less or no bottleneck? I cant overclock since its an OEM motherboard so my only upgrade option is the 2600.

The 2600 for £60 is not so bad at all, and you can sell your i5 to recoup cost. I think that's a worthwhile investment, .1GHz faster turbo and 4 more threads, helpful in modern games.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Do you think ill notice much difference in open world games? My afterburner overlay is showing 100% on the 2500 in GTA 5 and watchdogs 2 and the stuttering is mad but the RX 570 is just waiting to unleash its power

It will be less of a bottleneck, but I can't guarantee it will remove of the bottleneck.

Run the GTAV benchmark and watch your GPU usage. If CPU is pinned at 100% and GPU is only at 50%-70%, then you'll get better frames, but still max out the CPU.

If the gap is closer, say CPU at 100% and GPU at 90%, then the upgrade would be worth it imho.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

Don't forget, stuff like your operating system are pulling CPU resources as well, a minor alleviation to the extra threads as well as the small increase to CPU performance would help clear your stutters a lot. DO you also have dual channel ram, or only one ram dimm?

I have 4x2 in dual channel but RAM upgrade to 16GB (4x4) is an option for me. Im just going to run the GTA 5 like @Brink2Three suggested.

4x4 won't help if you're not exceeding 8GB, so you can check out your ram usage alongside your CPU and GPU usage.

Im not exceeding 8GB becuase I dont have more than 8GB. If I got 16GB Im sure watchdogs 2 and battlefield 5 would use more of the RAM.

The CPU dosent seem to be maxing out in the benchmark except the end part when the car drives into the oil rig the CPU sticks at 100% for a few seconds but when I play myself I see the CPU sticking at 100% for much longer and it gets worse in GTA Online.

If you reach 8GB your storage device often acts as memory so the performance becomes rather slow. Have you seen your ram usage max out at 8GB while gaming?

I upgraded from the same i5 to an i7 3770 and with my rx 580 there is no noticeable botteknecks in those games.

And as the guys above said a 2600 is a good upgrade.

Yes there is a difference, most modern games are taking advantage of more threads and I play a lot of Shadow of War with no issues at all. And the boost clock its higher too

Hmm, I see. Did your 2500 bottleneck the rx 580?

I didnt have the rx 580 when I was running the i5 2500, I had the 1050 ti and worked fine. 100% usage on the gpu and around 90% for the cpu in shadow of war(the game I most play). And the rx 580 seems to best performing card that the i7 3770 can run without any considerable bottleneck . So with the i7 2600 and rx 570 you should be fine
