Waiting for DDR5?

I waiting for the new ryzen processors because I want huge upgrade over my system (i3 2100 + DDR3)

and I think to waiting for the new DDR series.. DDR5 a lot faster than DDR3?

 

or DDR4 is enough and worth it?

DDR4 is what will be used on the new X570 / Ryzen 2 CPUs. We likely wont see DDR5 adopted until either the intel launch later this year, or next year.

DDR5 is years away from being affordable, what's your current GPU?

Then I'd just go for Ryzen 3000 when it drops in a few months, not worth bothering with waiting for DDR5

Well DDR5 is more like 2021 earliest but probably 2022 or 2023 even believe it or not possibly.

Initially it was set to launch this year, but has been pushed back to end of 2019. So we will likely see it in 2020.

That is amazing news Skiiwee29.  Sorry didn't mean to spread false rumors.  All II know is they kept on saying 2021 at earliest so Zen 3 won't even have DDR5 or will it ?

My guess is if its not announced with the Intel launch later this year, we likely wont hear or see anything until CES at the earliest with it.

Wow 2020 is amazing news.  I didn't want to upgrade cuz of this.  Knowing it comes at 2022 thats a long time from now.  So 2020 is perfect so Zen 3 will be DDR5 after all.

Its plausible based on the info out there about the launch of DDR5.

The cost isn't going to be worth it for consumers for many years, just wait a few months for Ryzen 3000 and it's hopefully $99 6 core CPUs.
