Hi guys,

I have my gaming build set up and I am about to purchase all the parts but before I do I would like just to double check what you guys think of my build, what modifications you would make to my build and why.

Here is my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Arsen2111/saved/2I41

My budget is $1500 but I am willing to go a little over that if necessary and if your opinion has a good reason why I should change my build.

Thank you for your feedback!

Second this. Woodenmarker is one of the best on the forums for budget builds :)

Your problem @Arsen is that you are using too much money on stuff which won't actually increase performance. Saving those money and getting the 780 instead of the 770 is a smart thing to do :)

The only reason to spend extra money on a motherboard is a) EXTREME OVERCLOCKING or b) looks. But really, get the 780 over the 770.

So you guys recommend that I spend less on stuff like the motherboard, ram and cooler and get an even stronger graphics card instead? hmmmm okay, but, I will be overclocking my cpu to around 4-4.2GHz therefore I have chosen that motherboard and also the H80i to keep the overclocked cpu cooled properly at all times.

Literally any z87 mobo is fine for an oc that low.

Depending on your chip, the 212 Evo should be enough for that type of oc.

212 evo will work fine, and you don't need an expensive mobo for that kind of OC.

Also I have not considered fans. I was hoping that the standard case fans from the storm enforcer would be enough for cooling but now im not sure. Should I get better fans or will the standard fans from the enforcer be enough?

I got no case fans and 2 fans on my CPU cooler for a 5 GHz overclock (keep in mind it's a sandy bridge so overclocks higher but performs a tad lower) in South Africa, I don't think case fans are that necessary but I guess they could help if you choose quiet ones, else it will just make the build noisy.

Edit: also quote someone if you want them to reply.

Stock fans are fine, also get WoodenMarkers build, you don't need a h80i and an expensive mobo.

What cpu are you using? What cpu cooler are you using for your overclock and what graphics card is supporting your overclock?

you could just read my sig or go into my profile, but I'm using an i5 2500k (sandy bridge's unlocked processor) an Akasa Venom CPU cooler. and The GPU I'm using is just an old 660 Ti. The reason for my high cpu frequency is less for gaming more for cpu intensive programs I run simultaneously.

For gaming your most important piece of hardware would be your graphics card for now.

Why did you change the Asus VX238H 23.0" Monitor to the Acer H236HL bid 60Hz 23.0" Monitor? I dont understand why... simply the price? or the fact that its ips? Ive looked this up on the internet and ive been told that TH monitors are faster than IPS's. Can you please explain why you prefer this monitor?

It's an IPS panel. The Asus display is TN.

In short, it will look better.

ive watched that video before and read the comments and some people say that this is not a very good comparison because the only detail he discusses is the display. Will this IPS monitor be okay for fps important games lets say like League of legends or counter strike or even call of duty?

Yes. In terms of response times, I have yet to meet a person that could tell the difference between IPS and TN from the latency alone.

Ive been talking to some of my friends and they say that 600W for this build is not enough.... They say they would take a 700W or a 750W power supply just to be safe. Are you sure that the 600W power supply would be enough for this build?

The entire system at 100% load would use ~450w. It's plenty.

Systems use less power than some of your friends would think.
