Welcome to the forum!

Honestly, price checks are pointless unless you're selling it here.

If you're selling locally:

  1. Go to your local classifieds
  2. Compare pricing
  3. Price accordingly
  4. Sell
  5. Profit

Checking pricing here doesn't reflect what you can expect to get where you are, and you won't get a true value for your item.

If you plan to sell online, and it's computer related, check out the Reddit Hardware Swap. They have a price check there.

Thanks for the quick reponse dizmo.

The reason i want a price check is because its really unique. I am wondering because of the built if it would bring more value to the build.

I have gathered all the prices of the components of stores here in my country and only a week old.

I figured based upon those some PC pro's might be able to give me an estimate.

We don't have sites like these in my small country called Belgium.

Be sure to quote people when replying to them, you - as the original poster - are automatically following this thread, but other users are not. Meaning if you don't quote them, they won't see you replied.

About your PC, you can surely post a new thread about getting a value out of it (be sure to post a full spec sheet, some additional info if necessary and the country you're selling it).

You could use Dutch websites to compare pricing against, for example tweakers.net has a section "Vraag & aanbod" which has quite a few people knowledgeable about PC parts selling their stuff, to get a bit of a range of prices.

Of course there is Marktplaats too, but usually people selling there don't know too much about PC and thus might under/overvalue their products.

Usually, from experience, I typically tell people you could sell second hand stuff for about 60-70% at most for its new price. That of course is with a lot of assumptions, like it not being very old tech, not being overpriced to begin with, assuming also people are interested in the tech.. etc.

By the way, from what I gathered from your posts, it seems like you want to sell an entire PC? If I were you, I would not sell the SSD (and/or HDD) of the system, because if people want they could get the data back and that just doesn't fare well with me..

Thank you for all the info you gave me. I assume I should post the price checking post in the classifieds section?

I already used tweakers to get the most accurate price of today.

Yes i am looking to sell the whole rig. The storage tip you gave me is a good one, right now storages like SSD's are cheap now anyway.

Hmm, to be honest this might be a fairly hard sell, seeing as this is a fairly specific styles watercooled Z97 system.

Just to note, Z97 is 1150, the the newest sockets at the moment from Intel are on the 1151 platform, meaning someone could technically swap out the board/CPU for a 9900K system for example.

Not saying that you should do that or whatever, but might be interesting to some buyers, because the Z97 platform has some fewer cores than the newer offerings.

Yeah i know the CPU/MOBO are a bit old its a i7-4790k OC'd to 4.8.

It runs super smooth in any game i own. The only reason i want to sell it is to start a new project. I want to buy afterwards a cheap setup as well for a media/file server at home but this CPU is way to overkill for it.

So because its fairly old you think its not worth the sell even tho it runs amazingly?

It's always worth listing online, if even only for you to gauge interest in the system.

The 4790K is still a great CPU, rivaling single core performance with Ryzen 1000 and it has 8 threads which is still great for current games.

Alright, if i post a part list do you think you could give a price check a go?

So i know what i could be aiming for.

I have all the current NEW prices.

I've been somewhat inactive with checking second hand prices, but I could give it a go.

Thanks for the effort and quick responses!

The first column is the number of units

The 3rd column is price/unit

The 4th column is the price for the total units

Oh, I totally forgot about all the watercooling stuff.. I have to admit I know next to nothing abut its value on the second hand market, so couldn't comment on that.

The other parts (so basically, CPU, RAM, motherboard, GPU, PSU) I would estimate you could get around 800 euros for. The SSD and HDD I would estimate are worth around 60-80 euros each on the second hand market (if you were to sell them.. I know most people are quite wary of buying storage devices second hand).

Spoiler

Individual estimates:

GPU (most value here, although it being a watercooling card would make it difficult to sell on its own): 450-500 euros

CPU: 80-100 euros (you're competing with second hand Ryzen 5 and 7 1000 CPU's).

motherboard: 70 euros (it's still easy to get a Z97 board)

RAM: 80-100 euros (that's 2 sets of 2x8GB, right?)

PSU: 60-70 euros (people are - as with storage devices - wary about getting a second hand PSU).

I won't even begin to estimate what the watercooling stuff is worth, I just don't have the knowledge on that stuff to add something meaningful.

Okay, thank you, i did not realise the value would drop that hard for the components alone.

I think i will hold on to the build myself.

Thanks for the usefull info!

The price drops of gradually, but it's also affected by new products.

e.g. the 4790K now competes with a Ryzen 1600, which can be had for 100 euros on the second hand market, while having a similar single core performance with two extra cores.

Or the motherboard is something a user should specifically be looking for, with X59 and X79 boards you see the prices increase a ton because that class motherboards are hard to get, while people still have a CPU fit for the board (but the Z97 platform, being more mainstream makes the board less sought after).

And here is someone selling 32GB of DDR3 for 75 euros: https://tweakers.net/aanbod/1994670/samsung-m393b4g70dm0-yh9-32gb-ddr3.html Of course that might be a bit different memory, in terms of Mhz and timings and stuff...

The PSU I just notice people don't like buying second hand.. but my price my be a bit low - I realize you might still have warranty on it after all.

I also see 1080 Ti cards going for 500-600 euros, but your card may vary from that price. Since it's a watercooling card it's difficult to price on its own. With a set like you have it might be worth more... On its own it might be worth a lot less, but if someone is specifically looking for it, it might be worth more.

That is of course the case with selling second hand, you're always dependent on the current market, but nothing is stopping you from listing it and waiting some time longer for the right buyer.

Alright, i did a good thing after all posting here to get info about selling used hardware.

I might still post it on second hand sites in belgium and see what turns up.

Thanks for your time and info!

Have a great day!

Not really, being built often holds little extra value...at least not generally enough to offset the fact that it's used, even if only for a brief period of time.

Never know though, could always post it for more and see if someone bites.
