This is What it says, I will get 8 more gb's of ram, but just not now since I only play esports games, but thats not the problem here.

Just a bug or inaccuracy in the test, don't worry about it. The SteamVR benchmark is also notoriously inaccurate.

You can probably get away with the GTX 1060 6gb if you turn down the settings enough.

I wouldn't upgrade anything before trying it out first... Also you mentioned you play mostly CS:GO and PUBG... I don't think those games supports VR... do they?

There are similar esport titles in VR.

You're right about not upgrading the GPU ahead of time. Better to hang on to the 1060 and see how much you'd like to be able to dial up the graphics settings (and what kind of GPU upgrade that would take).

Hello, I'm really interested in Valves new Index headset, Valve also launched a testing program that tests the PC and says if your computer is compatible. It said that the GTX 1060 6GB is not compatible, do you think its true?

Or when I buy the Headset I should buy a new GPU and which one, RTX 2060 or 2070?

My PC won't bottleneck these cards so no problem in that.

Your GPU meets the minimum requirements, if the test says your PC isn't good enough then it's either some other component not meeting the requirements, or a problem with the test.

Most basic games will work even on a GTX 1050 2GB but get anything a bit more demanding and it will be unplayable.

I know few people who play with GTX 1050ti 4GB and its doable but you will get some FPS drops and spikes so its not completely smooth experience.

You should be fine with GTX 1060 6GB for most if not all games but you will likely not be able to use SSAA for most games without big performance hit.

(Now I am talking from Oculus Rift or HTC Vive view point)

For the new Valve headset, you definitely want something more powerfull than a GTX 1060. The Index has higher resolution and higher refresh rate so it is quite a bit more demanding to drive.

I think that with GTX 1060 6GB you will still be able to play all games but you will rarely ever achieve the 120FPS mark the headset can manage and in more demanding games you may see some occasional stutters.

If you can afford both the Index and a new GraphicsCard then I would suggest you to get just the VR first and see for yourself what kind of performance youre getting and then grab a new card.

But either the RTX 2060 or 2070 should be good enough.

On Steam it says "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or better"

But the better the card better the performance, but since GTX 970 is minimum for it a 1060 should be fine, but if you wanna upgrade go for either 2060 or 2070 as you said
Are you gonna be exclusively using this PC for VR or are you using it for normal gaming too? if then pick the GPU that you benefit from the most in normal games as well

1060 (in most VR games) meets the recommended specs. If there is no bottlenecking your GPU should run just fine with it. The 1060 is still a fine card.

I only play CSGO, sometimes pubg, otherwise I don't play anything else on my computer.

  • Recommended

  • Processor: Quad Core+
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or better
  • Additional Notes: Available USB (3.0+) Port required for Headset Pass-Through Camera

Not minimum requirement.

As i said recommended specs for Index headset is 1070, minimum a 970. So a 1060 will work but if you want to upgrade go for a 2060, no need for a 2070 in csgo/pubg (you can still max triple-a games at 1080p with a 2060 as well)

I will want a gpu for the upcoming DOOM game, but I think an RTX 2060 will be enough for that.

A GTX 1060 6GB will be a good entry level card, but at this stage I would recommend upgrading if you want to get one of the new VR headsets.

I would use the 1060 6GB to test out the experience, but if you decide later that you want to upgrade, you can.

I took this route with my RX 580 8GB and I have been overall happy with the VR performance. You should get a similar experience with the 1060, if not better as NVIDIA does a better job overall with VR based on the benchmarks I've seen.
