Hey all,

I was playing a little bit of overwatch with the lady tonight, and when I ended the game I got a notice that I hat exceeded 83 degrees celsius on my GPU with 100% utilization (ROG Strix RX570). Opened GPUTweak and changed the fan profile to boost fan % at a lower temp but it doesnt look like that is helping much. Normally, the GPU sits around 65-70 in games like Division 2 and Apex at 100% utilization, where overwatch normally the GPU doesnt go higher than 75% GPU utilization. I was doing some googling and saw a few people replacing the thermal paste/pads over the VRM's and Chip on the GPU. Is this worth my while here or do I have a nother underlying concern? All the hardware is inside a NZXT H500i case with an AIO mounted to the front. I have the case fan speeds on a higher setting including the 2 on the front of the rad. I should also note there was a patch update on overwatch today? Not sure if it's related or not.

You probably just need to change the paste on the gpu die. Make sure it's completely covered in paste but don't apply it too much. The paste I recommend is the artic MX 4

Does the fan speed change?
Why not use Wattman??

Its much better than the third party stuff and it really works...

You lose warranty for the GPU...

But have you checked your case ventilation?
Here in the northern hemisphere its getting warmer that might have to do something with that as well.

I will give wattman a try tonight and see if it changes. My computer is in a constant 22 degrees atmosphere. I went into ICUE and changed the fans to run higher for intake, and changed the curve on the exhaust case fans in the bios to speed up at lower temps. No change on GPU temp. Used gpu tweak to adjust the curve on gpu fans to again speed up on lower temps and still no change. It does seem odd how this machine is a little over a month old, had no issues with temps until the overwatch patch update last night.

As far as warranty on GPU, I bought it lightly used, so I dont have warranty on it anyway.

I'm going to test other games tonight and see what I get. I will update the post this evening with some results and hwmonitor screenshots
