Ok, so I know how to set everything up for the most part and how most of it works. I just have a few questions. First of all, do not start talking about optical fiber please. I do not have that delivered to my house, I just have coax. I am wanting to set up a wired ethernet connection in my house, but there are a few problems. One: I have not the slightest idea of where my ethernet hub is; Two: I also do not know what category my ehternet is. I have looked all over the place, and I have absolutely no idea as to where my ehternet hub is. Now, I am really confused on this part, what is the difference between coaxial and ethernet. If I understand, couldn't you just have wired internet with coax? Couldn't you just get a coax to ethernet cable and have that instead of setting up all the ethernet? My coax is already set up, ust like every other house, but my ehternet is not. I just need a little help. Also, I need help one what rj45 is and through some research, it seems that there are like different sizes with ethernet cables or something because the ehternet on my Xbox did not match the ehternet plug in the wall. just need some help. thanks everyone!

Yes, but don't you know the great benefits you could have with optical fiber?!
Jk, but I think you may be confused, because so am I trying to understand what you're trying to ask.
First an internet service provider (ISP) would setup your internet. They'd basically turn on a switch to enable internet to your house outside, then if need be run a coax cable in your house, and connect it to modem and/or router. I think the router is what you believe the ethernet hub to be. You plug the ethernet cable into the router, and then to whatever device, for example your Xbox. An rj45 is the name of the ethernet cable. They come in different standards, like cat5 or cat6. You don't need to worry about that too much, but the "size" does matter, the size is how long the cable is, you need a cable that's long enough to reach from your Xbox to your router. An ethernet cable won't fit inside a telephone jack (see picture). This is called an RJ11 cable and jack. Not all houses have rj45 jacks on the wall.image.png.c49c58007a8da52197854e2396ed8bb5.png

Are you looking for something like this?

https://www.amazon.com/Actiontec-Ethernet-Adapter-Service-ECB2500C/dp/B008C1JC4O

This will use your Coax connection to run Ethernet. You use one of these on each side of your connection. So for example, if your router was in your living room and you wanted to hook up a device in your bedroom you would put one in your living room and then another one in your bedroom.

Also, I don't think that my house has rj45. I think it is some kind of data connection like rj12 or something

Most houses don't have rj45 wired. Almost all have either rj10/rj11/rj12 these are for telelphones. Can't be used for internet, unless you like dial-up. If you don't know how to wire your house, then you'd best be safe and hire someone.

so you have coax that goes to your modem and from there via an ethernet cable to your xbox. and you want ethernet for other devices, right?

you could get long cables and run them from your router to the devices which would be the cheaper option OR sell a kidney and let someone rip you off *ahem* wire your house with ethernet

ASUS X470-PRO • R7 1700 4GHz • Corsair H110i GT P/P • 2x MSI RX 480 8G • Corsair DP 2x8 @3466 • EVGA 750 G2 • Corsair 730T • Crucial MX500 250GB • WD 4TB

Yes you can. But Moca adapters, thats the adapters that do this are very expensive. Like $160 USD for a pair. You can only have 16 Moca devices on a network. If your using Moca on the same lines that carry your Internet and cable, it will work but there are other considerations you have to make. Such as using a Moca filter and such.

As far as Ethernet is concerned. Most houses dont have that built in already. If you have Ethernet looking jacks in your home, most likely they are RJ11 and are used for phone and not data. In some cases contractors would have used Ethernet cabling instead of phone cabling, but you would have to pull the cover off the wall and see if there are 8 wires. As far as Categories are concerned Cat5e and Cat6 can do 1 Gbps up to 100m, Cat 6a can do 10 Gbps up to 100m. Id probably just do Cat6 and call it a day.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
