Hey there,

I been trying to get my mom's old AMD Athlon 64 3200+ based (HP OEM) computer back running with an SSD.

now the thing has been taken apart by me a year ago, as it has been on the attic for a few years prior. took out the HDD, pulled of the data and formatted it. the rest of the computer didn't really seem interesting to me.

but now i wanna make a starter pc with it for my lil' sister. it has 1GB of DDR memory, i got 2x2GB sticks coming for it and have an SSD to upgrade it. figured, for a starter wont be that bad.

but the issue is; i can't get to install Windows. i have a Windows 7 Disc and 2 USB sticks with Windows 10 media creation tool (32 and 64 bits on both)

now i cant get to install anything. if i use the USB, it boots i get to select a platform (x86 or x64), then its loading files for an hour if not more and it gets a BSOD that shows "Driver PNP Watchdog"

on the Windows 7 Disc, its a little diffrent. the tool opens like it should, asks me what platform (x86 or x64) and the version (basic, premium, ultimate, etc.) it doesn't matter what i take... every time when going to install it on the SSD, i get this error "0x80070057" i tried formatting, deleteing and creating partitions. diskpart (https://support.microsoft.com/en-ie/help/2476568/error-0x80070057-when-you-format-a-hard-disk-drive-to-install-windows) <didn't work, still get the same error)

i have no clue what is wrong...

I haven't looked it up yet but will it work with an SSD? Have you tried installing on a HDD first?

EDIT!!

Also maybe a bad SSD unfortunately...

Ya give it a shot if it works I only see 2 options. SSD tech is to new for that computer or the most viable option is SSD was a bad make. But also it could be both those options are wrong haha.

I imagine this board still has IDE (PATA) ribbon cables. Check in the bios that SATA booting is enabled.

Yes, it does.

i initially went over bios to check some things. this is a good one. but it does show up on bootmenu. so i dont expect this to be the issue (am gonna check though)

The pictures are in the opposite order.

But,changed the  SSD for an old HDD i had lying around; now windows is installing...

And here i thought there is no difference between HDD and SSD for the computer itself as the controller in the SSD would output the same as that of a HDD

I think you want AHCI enabled. I'm trying to remember that stuff from my old Asus K8N MOBO.

That is for SSD specific? Or HDD too?

As of now im installing updates and I'll clone it when it's done to see if the ssd will get picked up.

So, Installing to the HDD worked, then cloning the SSD still didn't work.

Booted from the HDD, hotplugged the SSD. windows downloaded the drivers and i could go into the SSD.

cloned it; its so terribly slow ?

am waiting for Wish to get my RAM in :3

So I was 50% right lol! Never would of thought due to the drivers. I am actually getting ready to change a Laptop HDD over to a SSD. wonder if i'll need to do the same.
