HTC Vive/Oculus and PSVR quality of games, question to PC/Console folks.

centurion_08

Good morning.

So i don't have a capable PC to run these vr-sets just yet. On the other hand my friend is selling his PSVR V2 for i must say dirt cheap. With all the bells and whistles, 2 move controllers, camera yadda yadda bim bam boom. He's gonna hold it for a week, so i can decide.

My question is:

What is the state of VR games in the terms quality and polish.

I'm in the middle of building the pc (waiting for that ryzen 3600/X) but i don't know if should buy the psvr and run with it or build a rig and save some money for the htc etc.

I'm mostly interested in "fun" factor. Maybe some of you used both type of platforms so you have a direct comparison. I also read that psvr will be compatible with ps5 so that's a plus?

Save for PC, the games are better as you will be able to run in at least 1080p with constant 60 fps on high settings, (the higher the resolution the better also some people complain about the fps and quality after seeing the power of a pc, VR isn't something you want to play in something weak, and by experience it is weird play in low resolution and i don't own i went to a friend house). You have more and cheapper games, like VRchat and beat saber, sony usually censor games so probably this will be an issue on ps4.

even i liking sony and myself being an owner of a PS4, i don't believe it's worthy buying psvr even if it will be compatible with ps5

PSVR is actually very good...it's not as clean as a rift in terms of visual clarity, especially if you facor in the super sampling that you can do with a powerful graphics card, but the headset is very comfy and it works well enough.

THAT SAID...oh and the games on playstation are indeed fun some of them exclusives are really nice...THAT SAID (again lol) with a PC VR headset you can do MUCH more...Racing Sims, Flight sims, VR porn, movies etc. and on steam there's an infinite amount of stuff to try and enjoy and a lot of it is free...and there are many games, and many of them are AWESOME...

All in all, look...you're going to build a PC soon? and also new headsets are coming out soon...oculus rift S started pre-order already, Valve index too, HP reverb...many new higher resolution sets are about to come out...so people like me with a rift with 3 sensors will want to upgrade to something better and, at least for me, i will sell my oculus for cheap...like probably 200$ or something with 3 sensors and cable extensions...

If i was you i would keep focus on PC VR and forget PSVR at the end of the day it'll serve you a lot better i'm sure, unless you can afford both in which case i'd say if you want to have fun with it get PSVR and buy PC VR later.
