PfSense box and HTPC Virtualization

I have an HP 8300 with an i5-3470 processor that I am currently running as my pfsense router.

I want to split this machine and make run as a HTPC also.

HTPC requirements:

Play 4K video (a cheap 1050 or 750Ti is more than capable)

UHD Blu-ray and SD/CF support

Full OS (will NOT be using for gaming or NAS)

What VM set up should I use? This is a non priority PC basically a glorified Blu-ray player with a browser.

Should I make PfSense the base install and add KVM?

Use FreeNas or UnRaid with virtualize windows and PfSense?

I'm a little confused what you mean by "non priority PC".

As you want it to do HTPC tasks unraid or freenas will be able to run this. But if you want both pfsense and the HTPC to be a seperate OS, i would use a real hypervizor like Proxmox, ESXI, KVM, Xen, or any of the other once out there.
