mobo, cpu, ram, gpu - help me!

$3500 to spend on these items alone.

I am going to create my own custom case and get all the watercooling and other stuff, im not worried about that right now.

I just wanna know what the title states, what should I get for mobo, cpu, ram, gpu for $3500?

Once I get this started and come to a conclusion, I will post a build log and off I go!

What do I want to use this computer for? Gaming and occasional rendering.

Please make it cost friendly, like no 3970k when the 3930k is basically just as good and $200 cheaper. Thanks a bunch!

Asus ROG boards are supposed to have high quality components and ASUS likes to add value to their products as well. A Rampage would probably suit your build.

With that kind of coin to blow, I would actually suggest the Asrock extreme11 (X79 edition), it has an added PLX chip for full pcie3 16x support on 4 slots

 

onboard LSI raid, and I think a proper audio chip as well

 

get that, a 3930k, ram is practically irrelevant, dominator platinums look really cool. And like 4 GTX 680s, that would be completely ridiculous and I think it still falls within your budget, cut out one of the 680s or switch to 670s if it doesn't.

Grab a 3930K, an Asus Rampage 4 Extreme, 2 Titans, and then get as much of the quad-channel dominator platinums as you can with the money you'll have left

I would thinks Asus Rampage boards would suit your needs along with some titans and a 3930K. Corsair dominator memory is great for speed and reliability.

 

Just make sure it looks awesome. That is just as important.

You really don't need to spend $3500 on these components depending on what you're using this comp for. Like for instance, if you're just gaming then a 3770k is plenty. Then grab an Asus maximus board, any 1600 c9 ram and you're good. For gpu grab 2 high vram gtx 670s or even a titan or 2 if you want to spend the lonely.

I know :P I think with such a large budget that it'll easily be able to do anything.

With this kind of coin Id go with something crazy. Thinking Intel core i7 3930k, 2x 4GB 670s, Corsair AX 1200 PSU, Corsair Dominator platinum memory, etc. And for the mobo the little fans on the Asus and Asrock boards are kind of obnoxious so for a silent build, the MSI Big Bang Xpower looks sweet in any build, all blacked out with some gold. I would also recommend looking into a custom water cooling loop, with a cool looking reservoir. Another cool idea is a sweet SSD Raid Array, with like 2 ssd boot raid drives and 6 raid storage drives, with raid 10 for crazy speed and redundancy. You could probly also include sleeved cables to match the case and mobo, if you have the time to sleeve them or want to do pay someone to. For just gaming this is way overkill but with your budget you can totally get ballin components just for bragging rights and the "cannot has" factor.
