Gigabyte GV-N98TG1 GAMING-6GD

I recently noticed somthing odd about my GTX 980 Ti, the advertised memory clock on the box/website is 7010Mhz.

The pic should be self explanatory:

Can someone help me out? Why is the clock only 3505 in Afterburner? NZXT CAM also reads it at 3506Mhz.

memory clock goes full load when you play games or do something GPU intensive

So the thing is, DDR stands for double data rate.

7000 is the data rate. DDR memory sends data twice per clock cycle, so it's read as 3500. Actually GDDR5 has two output streams, so the actual frequency it runs is further half at 1750.

So in the GPU Overclocking  Database it says for my card that the memory clock is "2000" what does that mean? Sorry a little newb when it comes to OC...

It means the actual memory speed is 4000MHz.

It's up to you how much you want to add, it just needs to be stable.

that should refer to 1/4 the data rate or 1/2 that of what Afterburner shows

Can’t seem to get it stable, with the recommended database settings, the results are inconsistent, even at lower settings Superposition benchmark sometimes runs ok but on a second run with the same settings it crashes... what am I doing wrong/missing... ?
